STEVE ROACH: A Deeper Silence (2008)

And Steve Roach will always surprise by shaping an ambient music

1 A Deeper Silence 73:43

(DDL 73:43) (V.F.)

(Dark Ambient Music)

Ambient and drifting, A DEEPER SILENCE is a beautiful musical introspection into the enchanting world of the tormented souls' darkness. Brain waves over brain waves, this latest Steve Roach's beatless work floats like an invasion of sounds, pushing the limits of reflection and relaxation to the confines of our nocturnal territories. Amphibious, cavernous and spectral, the passive music of the American synthesist hovers in the abyssal depths of our subconscious with a strange linear poetry, giving A Deeper Silence a very particular sound relief. Throughout the 74 minutes, the soft whispers of synthesized souls, sometimes sweet sometimes ghostly, intersect in a vague musical labyrinth where the tones meander through a world of intense relaxation.

A title of over 73 minutes of floating ambient music that progresses subtly, like peaceful sleep that only the master of the heavy and textural vibes can achieve. And Steve Roach will always surprise by shaping an ambient music with vast and permutating structures, adding a living depth where the subtle modulations lead us towards a peaceful sleep. A DEEPER SILENCE is an intensely ambient album which is as powerful as Structures from Silence.
